Chris Eggleshaw is a historical fiction author from Bulwell, Nottingham, known for writing emotionally rich and meticulously researched novels set against some of the most significant social and political shifts of the twentieth century. After a successful forty‑year career in commercial management, he retired in 2020 and committed himself to writing full‑time, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

Chris holds degrees in History and Commercial Law, and this academic background strongly influences his storytelling. His work blends compelling character‑driven narratives with detailed historical insight, making his novels an ideal choice for readers who enjoy twentieth‑century historical fiction, war‑related drama, and family sagas based on real events.

His debut novel, Chance Meetings, explores unrequited love and personal struggle during the political and economic turmoil of late‑1970s Britain. The story captures the atmosphere of the era with vivid authenticity, making it especially appealing to readers interested in British social history.

Chris’s most recent novel, Gebhardt Hoffmann, is the first instalment in a planned trilogy following a German immigrant family in the United States during the years surrounding the First World War. The book offers a rare and compelling perspective on the suspicion, anti‑German sentiment, and cultural upheaval faced by immigrant communities during this turbulent period.

Alongside his novels, Chris has written several short stories that will soon be available on Kindle, further demonstrating his ability to capture the human side of historical events.

Chris lives with his wife, Joy, and is a proud father of three with a growing family that currently includes six grandchildren, who continue to inspire his writing. His combination of emotional depth, historical accuracy, and engaging narrative style has quickly established him as an emerging voice in modern British historical fiction.
